July 18th, 2023 we lost Jack Jackson III. Jack was a close friend, fellow Actor/Artist and a member of the Cherokee Nation.
The sudden loss was heartbreaking. Jack was truly one of a kind.
I first met Jack on the set of an Independent short film Lone Wolf Hill. Jack portrayed my Son in the film. He had already filmed his scenes earlier in the heat of the summer. My scenes were filmed later in the fall. However, despite his parts being done Jack showed up to set and this is when I first met him. That day formed what would become a brotherly friendship. We would talk or send texts daily usually sending jokes, funny videos etc. I am lucky to have met and become friends with Jack that day. Since his passing there's not a day that goes by I don't think about my friend and feel heartbroken knowing I will not get the daily text or call. After his passing I've had to pull away to process my grief. Everyone goes through their process and it's been tough.
I was writing a screenplay for a film Jack and I both would be the lead characters in. I'm planning to go forward with finishing the project/film and have made some changes to Honor Jack. My Characters name will also be Jack in the film and it will be dedicated in memory of him. Jack touched a lot of people. I'm lucky to have been one of them. Rest in Peace my friend. - J
